Centralised Services Engineer

We are seeking a versatile and experienced, hands-on individual to join our established and growing team. As a Managed Services Provider (MSP), we deal directly with SMB, SME, and corporate customers which you will be responsible for proactively managing to maintain systems security and availability.

This role is the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking for variety and the scope to deliver creative solutions through automation and reporting. In addition to helping to mature our services, you will be responsible for managing compliance within our client environments, such as: patching, backups, anti-virus, email protection, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Microsoft Secure Score.

We would expect the right candidate to have knowledge/understanding of the following:

  • Experience in a multi-client support environment.
  • A minimum of 18 months of experience in a technical support role or similar.
  • Windows desktop operating systems and applications.
  • Windows Server products and services (Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy/Event Logs, SQL, Remote Desktop Services, Hyper-V).
  • Microsoft 365 administration and maintenance.
  • Microsoft Azure administration and maintenance.
  • Networking experience (TCP/IP topologies, VLANs, switches, routers).
  • Good understanding and management of cyber security fundamentals, such as: patching, backups, anti-virus, Email protection, MFA, and Microsoft Secure Score.
  • Providing technical support services to many different clients, delivering high-quality solutions with great customer satisfaction.
  • Improvement of service efficiency and maturity through the analysis of ticket trends and implementation of service improvement projects.
  • Retrospectively resolving client technology that does not conform with our standards, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and other MSP security tools.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve customer IT environments through monitoring, management, and automation.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, VB Script).

The successful candidate should also possess the following skills:

  • Possess a passion for technology.
  • Time management and organisation skills and prioritizing of issues.
  • Work within business defined KPIs and SLAs.
  • Ability to use own initiative to see tasks through to completion.
  • Capability to work well independently, under pressure and with an eye for detail.
  • A Willingness and enthusiasm to learn is essential.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good documentation skills.
  • Flexibility and a team player, willing to learn and adapt quickly and work with other teams.

An element of this position may require field work and time at customers as required. Given the nature of the position, good communication skills, flexibility, with a clean UK driving license preferable to meet daily deadlines and workloads in this friendly, fast-paced environment.

It should also be stated that the role requires an amount of flexibility with working hours as many tasks may need to be carried out, out of our standard hours and at weekends, which the ideal candidate should be able to commit to.
