Carbon Reduction Plan

ACHIEVING NET ZERO BY 2040

COMMITMENT TO ACHIEVING NET ZERO

Sunrise Technologies is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.

BASELINE EMISSIONS FOOTPRINT

Baseline Year: 2023 (01/01/2023 – 31/12/2023) The Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in compliance with PPN 06/21. Our Carbon Emissions in 2024 were measured in line with GHG Protocol and include the greenhouse gases stated in the Kyoto Protocol.

CURRENT EMISSIONS REPORTING

Reporting Year: 2024 (1/01/2024 – 31/12/2024) The Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in compliance with PPN 06/21. Our Carbon Emissions in 2024 were measured in line with GHG Protocol and include the greenhouse gases stated in the Kyoto Protocol.

Year Emissions (2024)

A clear breakdown of the emissions included in the reported total.

Emissions Summary (tCO₂e)

Scope 1
9.35
Scope 2
17.3
Scope 3
27.12
Total Emissions
53.77 tCO₂e

SCOPE 1

Scope 1 is reported as 0.00 tCO2e due to Sunrise Technologies having no boilers, on-site manufacturing, a fleet or f-gases to report emissions on.

SCOPE 2

Within Scope 2, we have measured the emissions released from working from home and the consumption of purchased gas and electricity in office. With 1 Sunrise Technologies employee making the most of hybrid working, we have calculated 5 out of 5 days as spent working from home. Heating, lighting and computer consumption have all been taken into account to calculate emissions released due to working from home.

SCOPE 3

BUSINESS TRAVEL

The Business Travel Subset in Scope 3 has been quantified and reported for Sunrise Technologies in 2024. The emissions resulting from business travel, have been calculated. This includes travel by rail, London Underground, long and short-haul flights, and employee-owned vehicles for business purposes, excluding the commute to and from work.

EMPLOYEE COMMUTING

The emissions resulting from employee commuting have been calculated at 27.12 tCO2e, considering factors such as the distance travelled, mode of transportation, and average fuel consumption. This calculation accounts for the total commuting emissions generated by our employees and the corresponding greenhouse gas emissions associated with their transportation choices.

UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM TRANSPORTATION

The emissions resulting from up stream and down stream transportation have been assessed and quantified at 1.23 and 0.44 tCO2e. This calculation considers the transportation activities involved in sourcing materials and delivering finished products, taking into account factors such as distance travelled, modes of transportation, and fuel consumption. It accounts for the greenhouse gas emissions generated during both the upstream and downstream transportation processes, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of our carbon footprint.

WASTE GENERATED IN OPERATIONS

The emissions resulting from our waste removal service have been quantified at 0.48 tCO2e, based on the emissions factors provided by our waste remover provider. This calculation takes into account the total waste generated in our operations and the associated greenhouse gas emissions throughout the waste removal process.

EMISSIONS REDUCTION TARGETS

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 38.96 tCO2e by 2029. This is a reduction of 30%.

CARBON REDUCTION PROJECTS

COMPLETED CARBON REDUCTION INITIATIVES

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2024 baseline:

• Allowing hybrid working

• We offer the Cycle to Work scheme

• All lighting is LED and we use solar in the office

• We have introduced batteries to the array last year and are looking to further expand our array

• Electric vehicles are on the agenda too, once adequate options are available.

• We set up a now registered charity – “Every Child Online” to help “bridge the digital divide” by recycling IT equipment and repurposing to Schools and other charitable organisations. To date, we have repurposed the equivalent of £2.5M of IT equipment that has gone back into schools and the community which helps to reduce our net generated waste.

DECLARATION AND SIGN OFF

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting2.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard3.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
